FLIP Burger Senopati

New burger joint has just opened in Senopati area last week! They opened for public starting from Friday 19th of August!
Location below RAI Fitness Senopati

It is located in Jl. Senopati right in front of Caribou Coffee and in the same area of RAI Fitness, easy to spot especially with their huge Flip Burger red and yello wsignage. When we arrived around 6 pm we were told that this place was closed and starting to open at around 6.30 pm! So we just went inside and waiting for around 20 minutes before we can order.

When I saw their Instagram page @flipburger_id, turns out Chef Afit was the one behind the kitchen! So you can expect the great Beef experience since Chef Afit also the man behind Holycow & HolyRibs!

Even before it was opened there were few people seated already

Order counter

They put notification in the front door for GOJEK drivers that they are only allowed to order of a maximum of THREE BURGERS per order due to high demand. WOW!

Above are the whole menu they have, as you can tell SMACKER is their signature burger (IDR 55K), they also have regular cheese burger and fish burger which I'm very excited about! For the light bites they have Chicken Skin, French Fries, Chicken finger and Bacon & Tots fries. All comes in a very affordable price IMO.

If you want a combo or package, they have 3 kinds of 'FLIP Combo': Cheese burger, Beef burger and Fish burger combo with each comes with fries and soft drinks in it (IDR 57K - IDR 61K). All drinks in Flip burger are 'RE-Fill-able', pretty dang good huh?!

The WHOLE SQUAD!

We ordered the FLIP C combo (Fish burger), Smacker burger and Chicken Skin. We wanted to try the tots and bacon but we hesitated LOL, so maybe some other time we'll try it!

The SMACKER Burger!

Fish Burger
The Smacker burger was HEAVY as if I was holding three big mac burgers! When we opened it, the burger has lots of oil and grease in it but not in a gross way tho'. The Smacker definitely the highlight of Flip burger once we had a bite. The double beef patties were SOOO JUICY and tender and not dry at all! The bacon and caramelized onions added just the right amount of taste and 'kick' into it!

The fish burger was definitely better than "M* D*na*d" fish burger, however I didn't quite like the egg that they put on top of the fish, it was just make the whole burger smell so 'fishy', but it was good all in all.

I rarely eat chicken skin, but THIS is TO DIE FOR!

The SMACKER was Friggin' HEAVY! LOL!

The chicken skin is A MUST order when going to Flip Burger, I could just come back to Flip burger just for the Chicken skin and go! Because it was THAT Good! It was crispy, like dead crispy!

Ice Cream & Drinks Refill Counter
If you don't want to queue on the spot to order the burger, you can send your Go-Jek driver and order. However you're going to miss the perks of having them when you dine in Flip Burger, because they offer FREE Refill for all drinks & Ice cream if you have it there! Who wouldn't want a free refill of Ice cream?!
Total Damage
All in all, Flip burger offer a great deal when it comes to fast food (burger). Beside residing at a premium area of Senopati, they also offer affordable price which goes along with their delicious  burger!

The only downside of going here is they do not have great parking space, so you HAVE to valet your car and paid IDR 20,000,- per visit! *UGH*

Other than that, it was a nice dining experience here in Flip Burger!

SEIROCK-YA RAMEN

I love Japanese foods! (Almost) Any kind of Japanese food always raise my appetite, including Ramen!

Who does not love ramen? It's savory, tasty, fulfilling and belly-warming especially if you eat it during rainy or cold weather! YUM! However authentic ramen from Japan mostly included "pork" in its ingredient (whether it is Tonkotsu or not). Many times traveling to Japan I always wanted to try the authentic ramen but I couldn't since they are not "Halal" *sad face*.

When I heard about Seirock-ya claiming their brand as "Halal Ramen" I got very excited!! However sometimes "Non-Pork" ramen does not taste as good as the "Pork" one, so my expectation when visiting Seirock-ya was kind of average.

They have several outlets already in Jakarta and Serpong. The one I visited was in Radio Dalam (Near Beer Garden Radio Dalam / Gandaria Area). I paid a visit after work around 6.30 pm and all the tables were unoccupied.
Welcoming Banner

1st floor

They have 2 floors with upstairs a more spacious one. Be noted that all floors remain a non-smoking area.

Their decorations are typical Japanese food shop with wooden table and chairs with a semi-open kitchen on the left side where we can see the chef preparing our meals.

For super-spicy food lovers out there!

Their Extreme and Miso Ramen Menu
Basically their main menu is Ramen (Chicken Ramen). They offer 3 types of broth to be served with your ramen: Shoyu, Shio and Miso (depends on your preference). However the waiter suggested us that we opted for the "Extreme" Tori Paitan Ramen.

Extreme means the broth is thicker, more savory and get more 'kick' in it! Of course I went with the waiter's recommendation right away!

You can choose your noodle firmness: Thick or thin. I opted for the thin one since for me that's why ramen noodle should be, while Mr. A went with the thicker one. Well, go with anything you like! turns out both noodle are great!

Extreme Tori Paitan Ramen
You can choose your topping also, whether with Tamago (soft-boiled eggs), Chashu (sliced chicken meat) or the special one (tamago, chashu, quail).

If you like your food to be spicy, you can have the "spicy" one. However since I cannot eat that many chili I asked whether they can separate the chili (and turned out they can! yeay!!) So I just added a bit of chili little by little based on our liking.

Other recommendations are their GYOZA, I ordered the SPICY GYOZA and OH BOY, Was it amazing! The grilled gyoza skin was perfect but still soft, the filling was quite generous and the spicy-savory taste was DELISH!

At first I did not want to order the Tori Karaage, but the staff said it was 30% discount that day so yeah why not?! It was different than other karaage I had in most Japanese resto, the meat was too thick and it was just okay.

Beside Ramen, they also have Tsukemen, several kinds of donburi menu and also some other light bites to choose from.

Orange Soda!
After slurping the whole bowl of thick and savory broth of tori paitan ramen, we ended our meals with this Orange Soda drink which also recommended by the staff. The presentation was cute! and it was definitely completed our taste bud with its sweet-citrusy taste. Nice!

For me personally, Seirock-Ya has just crowned THE BEST CHICKEN RAMEN in Jakarta so far!

The broth which comes in thick side (but not too milky, if you know what I mean), the noodle firmness was just perfect and the toppings were complementing each other in the right proportion!

Definitely will comeback here again for their delicious ramen and to try other menu as well!

TANAMERA COFFEE ROASTERY

HELLOOO!!

Oh Lord, it has been 2 years since I last visited my blog! A lot of going on in life (like Duh!), but I'm baaacckk with tons of food and travel review!

Today is Saturday so it is THE best time to go out and enjoy some brunch and coffee since recently MANY new coffee shops opened in J-Town that I'd like to try!

Me and Mr. A went to Mayestik for some "tailoring" stuff, after being stuck in traffic for QUITE some time we thought we'd like to visit a nearby coffee shop to chill and spend the rest of our afternoon.

I found out from Zomato that TANAMERA COFFEE has another joint in Jl. Ahmad Dahlan. I only knew the one they have in Thamrin, so without further ado we went straight to their location which located right beside Lab School Kebayoran and also they share the same building with LetterD cafe.

The Black and Red theme

Our order: Banana Caramel Cake (35K); Iced Mocha (40K); Flat White (35K)

Their Iced mocha is quite bitter for me, but the flat white tasted great! Since I lovveeee banana cake in general, I felt like I have an obligation to tried this when I saw it at the display rack. They added caramel sauce and mix the cake with some dark chocolate I think. All in all, I love spending my time here!

GREAT Coffee!

They have a 2-story building, the upper floor used for special occasion if I'm not mistaken and they have an outdoor seating which is quite spacious imo. It is actually dedicated for smoking area. However the outdoor seating seemed really nice especially in today's not-so-sunny Jakarta weather, so we were seated outside and it was lovely!

They also serve all day breakfast, burger, panini and other 'heavy' meals.

Other Tanamera locations are:
  • One Pacific Place (Lobby)
  • Thamrin City Office Park
  • SSqP-SDC Serpong

They open everyday:
Sun - Thu 6.30 am - 10 pm
Fri - Sat 6.30 am - 11 pm

So, if you are looking for a place to enjoy your morning (or all day) coffee, weekend brunch or just need a place to chill out with friends I think Tanamera Coffee Ahmad Dahlan serve a very good one!

Garcon

So, I was having lunch with friend at Marche Plaza Senayan on Sunday afternoon, and we were up for dessert so when we walked down from Marche we were looking at this cute cafe which was crowded at that time, Garcon.

The restaurant itself is a french bistro and patisserie which really attracted us just looking from outside, it has very unique decor and has great ambiance! Our eyes were set at the dessert window right at the entrance, so many cute cakes! YUM!! :)

Because we've just had our lunch, so we only ordered the cakes and some drinks. We opted for Relegie Caramel (35K) and  the other one I forgot the name but it taste chocolaty with crispy bottom and bit of nutty filling :P
Religie caramel!

they have great selection of cake and pastries! gotta try 'em all!
having all sweets makes me craved for something light and bit salty, so we opted for French Fries Parmesan (around 40K), you can actually choose your topper with Truffle/ Paprika/ Parmesan. Tasted really great for french fries LOL!

For the drinks, my friend ordered ice chocolate (around 60K) and I had Ambrosie (58K) the ambrosie was yogurt blend with peach, raspberry, honey and lemon. Really love the Ambrosie, the yogurt wasn't really thick, and it has more of sweet taste than sour but not that sweet (y'all know what I mean? hehe) So it's really refreshing and nice to accompany your snacks! The ice chocolate was lovely too! YUM!

Garcon, is one great place to hang out with friends or our love one to enjoy some light snacks, dessert or even lunch/dinner! I'll be sure to visit again to try their main course :)

Kopitiam Tan

Kopitiam Tan is located in SCBD area inside the same lot as The Foundry No. 8, Beautika and Beer Garden. I went there after work while waiting on Jakarta's heavy traffic before the long holiday (fyuuhh...)

Kopitiam Tan is under the Biko Group which also established the Beer Garden. Just like any other kopitiam cafe in Jakarta, though I have to say Kopitiam Tan has more variety menu than just bread, coffee and other malay-chinese foods.

The interior is pretty spacy with dimmed lighting, good place to hang out with your friends while enjoying good snacks and coffee. But i was there for dinner so will definitely visit there next time for their coffee and various snacks menu.

Their menu selections!

They have so many menu to choose from, from all day breakfast, light meals, dessert, lunch and dinner. They also have many selections of beverages! YUM!

I chose "Mie Ajam Pandjang Oemoer" (35K) which was the typical "mie ayam" , taste nice and the noodles were good. My pals ordered Nasi Goreng Cabe Ijo (38K) and Sop Iga served with Nasi Pandan (around 60K) (love the nasi pandan!) and also their Pangsit Goreng Oedang Mayonaise (28K) with soft shrimp and veggie filling.
Great taste esp. for those who keen on SPICY stuff!

Pangsit goreng oedang

the RIBS!

They are doing very well for Kopitiam and definitely will go visit them back to try their other good foods and of course to try their coffee! :)

Chiringuito El Kabron Spanish Club Review

Another Bali restaurant review, for this one I have to say maybe it wasn't just my luck that day.

EL Kabron Spanish Club is one really well-known hangout place currently in Bali. Famous for its amazing view because it is located up in a cliff with the view of spectacular Bali beach. We found some difficulties finding the place, of course we were guided by google maps. we went on uluwatu area and entered pecatu asri resort (new housing area in pecatu) the roads were looonngg, full of ups and downs and when we got almost desperate with our search we finally asked a hotel security guard, just to be told that the road  to El Kabron WAS here, but it was closed because of some hotel construction so we had to take the further way! (D'oh!)

Out form Pecatu resort, we went up again browsing the uluwatu area, it had been 1.5 hours, and finally we entered a very long and winding road full of serpentine track! Like when you go to Puncak from Jakarta only this time the road was smaller, among the bushes (Oh scary!) but I have this feeling that our struggle to find this restaurant will be worth it, so we kept on going!

Fyuuhh, after almost 2 hours ride we FINALLY found EL Kabron Restaurant which located in a very remote area of pecatu. When we got there, there were only three cars parked, so we kind of hoping the place for ourself :)

We stepped into the restaurant, but the waitress who supposed to greet us stopped us while she was on the phone talking (which I find a bit of rude by the way she stopped us) and another man greeted us and led us inside. I told him that we want to be seated outside for sunset, and he said that the outside area was being CLOSED due to raining whether (it was raining 20 minutes before we got there).

Okaayy, so we allowed to be seated inside and I saw a lot of "reserved" signed on almost all the tables inside. Okay since we were totally hungry we gotta ordered fast! But too bad I found the menu was a bit lack of variety (Cold tapas - hot tapas - paella - dessert), maybe Spanish food isn't really my thing :P

So we ordered finger foods instead of big ones, I thought we'll just have snack and enjoy the sunset view for an hour or so and head back to town. but to our more disappointment, there were no sunset that day because of the raining just stopped at around 4 :(

Gambas AL Ajillo

PINCHOS DE TERNERA

We opted for Gambas Al Ajillo (75K) it was Prawns cooked in spicy garlic flavoured olive oil, hate to say that the prawns were fishy and not so fresh :(. Their pinchos de ternera (65K) were good though, it was Mediterranean herbs-marinated grill Australian beef sticks, the beef was tender and tasty. For snacks we opted for Croquetas De Marisco (65K) - Prawns and lobster croquettes, it was just okay for me and Mr. A.

Beside the mediocre food and not-so-great service, we gotta give El Kabron 5 thumbs up for its amazing view.

would be three times more amazing if there were a sunset view :)

They have such breath-taking view over a cliff, overseeing a great beach of Padang-Padang Beach. But they are surely need to improve their service and menu selection.

Gourmet Cafe

So, I just got back from my 4 days vacation in Bali. Got some food reviews tag along with me :) So here's one of 'em.

I always love breakfast! For me and Mr. A, it was our favorite meal of the day. So when knowing to be in Bali for 4 days, we managed to find some reviews on Bali best breakfast. From Tripadvisor and by reading foodie blog, Gourmet Cafe is one of the recommended place to go. So we went there, and I'm glad we did!

It was simply a breakfast paradise! We were the only locals that time, so I guess that place is very famous among tourists. Whatever you want for breakfast was simply there. From Salad (DIY salad), Pastries, Sandwiches, American breakfast, Cakes, Gelato and ALL! We spent some time browsing their menu since we WANT them all! :)

Gourmet Cafe is part of Bali Catering Company, one of the biggest catering company in Denpasar. They serve an all day breakfast menu and give you opportunity to create your own salads and sandwiches.

Their selection of Cakes

Gelatooo!

Salad bar

deserts, coffee, tea and juices

various kind of pastries

We finally opted for The Big breakfast, plain croissant with butter & jam, Vanilla Cronut and try their homemade healthy juice.

Our BIG Breakfast! Yuumm..

The Big Breakfast (around IDR 65K) - Eggs any style with grilled Pork Bacon, Sausage, Baked Beans, Hash Brown, and Whole Wheat Toasts

Plain croissant served with butter & Jam (around IDR 10K)

Vanilla Cronut (around IDR 25K)

Their croissant is soft and really great! The big breakfast really did its job well, but I don't really like the cronut because the filling was too creamy for me, but all and all the food was great!

They also have homemade healthy juice and we were tempted to try it so we ordered the "Power Booster" and "Liver Detox".

Power Booster (around IDR 30K)

Liver Detox (around IDR 30K) -- Beet root, oranges and other fruits (sorry kind of forgot the details)

What more can I say about this place? Except that Gourmet Cafe is just the right place you wanna have for your breakfast or brunch!

Gourmet Cafe located in three area in Bali (I tried the one in Petitenget) adn open from 7 am - 10 pm.
